Anne Harris Week 7

Monday this week I was at Trinity. I finished all of task one and picked my two clips I will be using for task two. It was a very productive day. Tuesday there was a sub, so it was my first day to teach the whole day. The sub let me take over and he was there as more of an aide. It was really nice of him to allow that. The day went very well and I think I handled it all with me best effort. I felt comfortable doing it, especially subjects I have yet to teach. I am glad I had that experience. This relates to Standard 2 Content Area and Pedagogical Knowledge because I was able to teach all subjects from experiences I have had with the students observing. I am finished up teaching point of view on Friday. I started this lesson all on my own and they finished strong. I feel like this lesson was a success and I am happy that I am in complete control of the reading for the class. We are still learning black history month facts and working on different people for social studies. I am mostly...

Anne Harris Week 6

This week I started and finished my video taping for the edTPA. The kids did very good not paying attention to the camera and worked with each other very well each day. This relates to Standard 4 Learning Environment because even though there was some seat changes and a camera, they knew to still stay on task. I know what two days I want to use for my clips, but I still need to figure out exactly what parts I should use. I learned that planning ahead exactly is very hard, especially with the edTPA lesson plans, so I do need to adjust those, because we did not move long as I thought me would. Other than that, the students understand the concept of point of view much better now than they did on Tuesday. I learned the importance of exit slips and to explain questions you ask in more detail. Over all I still some things to do to finish up task 1 and I plan to have that done on Sunday so I can use Monday to work on task 2 at Trinity. I also continued to teach the lesson on Ruby Bridges. The...

Anne Harris Week 5

Week 5 was the start of me taking over all of reading. But, to start, I did a lot of grading for math and took detailed notes on how she taught her math lesson that she is very particular about. This week I also brought my camera in to test out the class and to see their reactions. My teacher explained what the camera was for and to not mess with it. I also reiterated why it was there and how it is for college. They did very well with it and I even recorded the lesson I did on Wednesday. I found the spot I will use for the actual taping for the edTPA and I am glad I had the chance to bring it in early to test it out. I had my observation this week and that went well too. The students really enjoy reading and listening to the Magic Tree House books. This relates to Standard 6 Reading Writing and Oral Communication because they use all these for listening to the book and writing a response that makes sense. I was also in charge of the social studies MLK door decorating project. This was ...

Anne Harris Week 4

Week 4 was a week of change and finally getting things figured out. To start, my teacher was not going to be okay with me teaching math for my edTPA because she doesn't trust I will be prepared enough to teach them what they need to know. With that being said, she emailed Dr. Price to have me change it to literacy, so now I am back to square one. I am now taking control of what I need to do and getting it done with all this that happened basically without my choice. So, with that being said, I am all planned for what I am doing for my edTPA, when I am taping, and preparing to get to that point. Me and my teacher have talked and I know what steps I am taking and exactly what lessons I need to plan for to be prepared for my observation and edTPA. I am now in the process of talking to edTPA to get the switch finalized. This week I have taken over reading the Caldecott books to the class daily and having the grade the books on their worksheet. I also am in control of grading their re...
